Overspeed Skating

This program is new to the TPH calendar and seeks to provide players who are looking for an extra dose of pace and pushing beyond their comfort zone. We will spend time breaking down skating skills before quickly putting players into high tempo drills that challenge their movement ability and stretch their skill level. This program is perfect for athletes who are looking for a little extra ice and prefer a higher tempo skate amongst their in-season hockey programming. Athletes can expect to work on directional changes, lateral movements, high-speed puck control, along with gameplay elements such as chasing, angling, and tracking.

Tactical Skills Program

This program is designed to educate players beyond simply just the ‘how-to’ of a given skill. In-game application of skills goes beyond just mechanical ability, and these ice times are intended to educate players on the ‘when, where, and why’ of tactical skills. While skill breakdowns will be utilized, they will quickly progress into small-area activities that incorporate various gameplay concepts such as timing, puck-support, positioning, communication, and more. Players can expect to compete with and against their peers throughout the sessions in drills utilizing 1v1, 2v1, 2v2, and 3v2 scenarios when relevant to enhance their understanding of skills and tactics.

This program seeks to combine traditional power skating and skating development methods with additional puck skills in every session. This program will break down various skating skills such as stride mechanics, various directional changes, lateral movement, transitioning, and more. In addition to these skating skills, players will progress to use these skills in combination with puck skills each week. The content of this program is well-rounded and will help players to continue refining their movement abilities with and without the puck.
